Webster said Microsoft's internal research has shown a 10 percent increase in the number of people who say they will buy a Windows PC when they buy their next computer, though he would not say what percentage have that intent.

SINGAPORE: This Saturday, check into a five-star hotel and “sleep naked”… without air-conditioning. Dine by candlelight for discounts. Get free beer. Trek to Mount Faber for a view of the city lights going out. Or check on your Blackberry how the rest of the globe is celebrating Earth Hour, which takes place at 8.30pm in Singapore.

what i really care about is that the company values wrt research. Microsoft Research is handsdown the most impressive research institution i’ve seen. even though my research has product implications, i’m not a product person but i love being in a place where my work funnels into product.
i also think a lot of folks underestimate the role that MSFT plays in shaping policy, both explicitly and implicitly. i hope my research also shapes policy going forward.

Digital presentation for Nestle Philippines (Windows Live)
Today we are giving a presentation to the marketing team of Nestle in the Philippines (as I wrote on a previous post). Below you can see a small video were Barrie takes us through Windows Live and how this might be relevant for a client like Nestle. We will show this video to the team there and I hope they like it?

Ad's expectedly corny, even a little dated in its humour; but the site quiz ties the gimmick back to Travel Channel shows well enough. At the very least, it sparked discussion: last night me and a friend were all, "What exactly is a sexy beach?" Verdict's still out.
Digital presentation for Nestle Philippines (Beyond the banner)
Next Monday we are giving some presentations to people in the marketing department at Nestle in the Philippines on digital advertising. Since not all of us can attend the meeting we decided to make a few videos of our presentations which they will show Monday. Here is my bit on how we have to look beyond the banner when thinking about digital. It is largely based on a presentation of Helge Tenno, who writes a fantastic blog on digital and who has some amazing slides on Slideshare.
Let me know what you think?
Streamy seems like a great social media aggregator!
Just read the review of Streamy on Readwriteweb. The moment you can Tweet from within this application I’m definitely switching over to this. To be honest I can’t understand why we are not building something similar to this and take Windows Live Messenger as a starting point for building out this application.

Spending on online channels grew faster than offline media. Compared with one year ago, marketers most often increased expenditures on Email (index of 60), Search (index of 59), Other Internet Marketing (index of 56), and New Media (index of 54).
Projected revenue for Q1 2009 points to a decline, with an index of 38, as direct marketers do not expect to see improvements in their revenue performance. All three segments have similar revenue projection indices for Q1 2009: Suppliers indexed at 36, Agencies at 39, and Marketers at 40. -
The predicted 40% rise in mobile marketing budgets for the year marks an opportunity for radio, said a group of mobile marketing execs during the Radio Advertising Bureau conference. eMarketer says the mobile segment will attract $6.5 billion in ad revenues by 2012.
Radio’s big potential is to stop selling simple :30 or :60 spots and to begin creating a conversation between the station and/or the personality and the audience. Advertisers want such a conversation, which could be played out by a radio spot activating a text message component, said David Ross, chairman of mobile marketing and technology firm 3C Interactive (via Mediaweek). -
We are getting reports that Microsoft’s PubCenter, a self serve thirty party ad publishers platform through AdCenter, is doing quite well with beta testers. Microsoft began testing PubCenter last summer.
